This insider’s look at the new version of SimCity set to release in 2013 has me drooling already. Maxis has rebuilt the game from the ground up with new stunning graphics and agent technology that will tie together all of the aspects of the game. I can’t wait to get my hands on this and try it out. In the meantime, I’m playing CitiesXL 2012, which shares some features with the SimCity series. (Look for a review of that game here soon.)

This new 3D version has some spectacular and stunning graphics to be sure, but the real promise is two areas:

(1) Multiplayer regions where you and your buddies can work together on a simulation. There are already folks forming up teams to play together when the game releases, so this will be exciting and no doubt there will be a lot of images of great regions and cities shared in the future.

(2) The new “GlassBox” agent technology behind the game, which is shown in some detail in this series of videos.

Part 2 – Economy Loop

Part 3 – Environmental Loop
