Tired of the Windows Blue Screen of Death?
Note: This hint was prepared for Windows XP or maybe earlier. May or not work with Vista and later. Use at own risk.
Why not make it the Red Screen of Death or any other color that you would like? You can do this by editing your “system.ini” file. Under the heading “[386enh]” add the following two lines at the bottom and before the next heading:
messagetextcolor=15
messagebackcolor=12
This will cause windows to present error messages with white text on a red background. You can create any combination that you want by substituting a different number for each color. The numbers and corresponding colors are illustrated below.
